What are the hours of operation and admission prices at BHS?
The Brooklyn Historical Society is open Wednesday through Sunday from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. We are closed Mondays and Tuesdays.
Admission is free for members, $6 for adults, $4 for senior citizens (age 62 and over), and $4 for students (age 12 and over – college students must show proper I.D.). Children under 12 can attend the museum free of charge.
What are the benefits of BHS membership? How Can I Join?
Members of the Brooklyn Historical Society receive numerous privileges, including:

What is the subject matter of the BHS image collection?
The extensive image collection includes numerous photographs, drawings, and paintings of neighborhoods, streets, and landmarks. The majority of our photographs and images range from the 19th to 20th centuries.
How can I research BHS's image collection?
The library's recently-upgraded image database, which lists 33,000 images, is available for use by prior appointment. For more information, including information on appointments, see the Image Collections page in the library area of the website.
Can BHS images be used in publications or reproduced for personal use?

How can I donate items to the collections?

How do I arrange a group tour for students or adults?
Guided tours are given to groups of no more than 30 people at a time, and are generally one hour in length. Please call 718-222-4111, x. 222 for more information.
