Bergen CollectionCollection Highlights
Teunis G. Bergen (1806-1881) was a prolific Brooklyn mapmaker, genealogist, and politician. BHS has a significant collection of Bergen’s maps, which document property ownership and street expansion in central and southern Brooklyn. Recently, with help from the Gerry Charitable Trust, BHS conserved and cataloged a number of Bergen’s manuscript maps. The maps can be searched in our catalog BobCat, and you can learn more about the Bergen family through the Teunis G. Bergen and Bergen Family Papers.
