The Lester family papers document the Lester family of Brooklyn, spanning the period 1863 to 1911 and measuring 1.6 linear feet. The collection consists mostly of bills and receipts for transactions of goods and services, and also contains materials pertaining to Great Barrington, Massachusetts and Bayshore, Long Island. Also included are issues of the newspapers The Drumbeat, The Brooklyn Daily Eagle, The New York Herald, and The New York Dispatch dating from 1863 to 1865.

This collection consists of Chandos Fulton’s handwritten research notes on the history of Brooklyn newspapers, compiled for his “Local Press of Brooklyn” series of articles in the Brooklyn Standard in 1864. A small amount of correspondence to and from Fulton regarding his research is also included.
Chandos Fulton (1839-1904) was a Brooklyn journalist who published a series of articles titled “Local Press of Brooklyn” in the Brooklyn Standard from August to December of 1864. He was also the author of The History of the Democratic Party from Thomas Jefferson to Grover Cleveland, among other titles.

The Mary A. Titcomb scrapbooks consist of seven volumes of clippings, 1865-1881. The scrapbooks contain clippings of the weekly magazine series that were written by Titcomb and published in Harper’s Bazar (known today as Harper’s Bazaar) and Harper’s Weekly for the publishers Harper & Brothers. The collection is organized into three series: “Mrs. Typeset’s Diary,” 1867-1870; “Says and Doings,” 1870-1881; and “Home and Foreign Gossip,” 1865-1880.
The scrapbooks contain the complete run of all three of the weekly series written by Titcomb.
