Identifying Materials for Your Research

To begin your research, please browse the research guides and collections described here on Emma, and search our library catalog and online image gallery. The materials described in Emma are not a comprehensive listing of our holdings;  if you do not find what you are looking for, email us to ask if further resources relevant to your research are available.

Research Requests

We are happy to help identify materials which may be relevant to your research, but due to limited staffing are not able to conduct research for off site patrons. If you need research done in our collections but are unable to visit the library, you may wish to hire a local researcher. The Association of Professional Genealogists has a listing of professional researchers on their website, and the local graduate programs in Library Science at Palmer, Pratt, and Queens College or the Archives and Public History program at NYU may be able to connect you with a graduate student well-qualified to do archival research.
