Major Gifts
Major GiftsGifts of $5,000 or more enable the Brooklyn Historical Society to expand our educational programs, organize new exhibitions, support library projects and provide operating and capital support.  There are a variety of ways to direct your major gift.

Unrestricted Gifts
These provide the most flexibility and allow management to direct funding where it is most needed – general operations, educational programming, maintenance, security, etc.

Restricted Gifts
These enable a donor to provide support for specific purposes or programs of interest such as school programs, upgrading library technologies, exhibition development, and other areas of interest.

Naming Opportunities
There are a variety of opportunities for the naming of buildings, floors, rooms, and equipment at BHS.  Wall plaques can be installed in sites throughout the building to recognize donors.

Capital Gifts
Gifts for the purchase of equipment or for the construction or renovation of facilities provide the Historical Society with the resources needed to maintain its historic building and provide uninterrupted services to the public.
